Partners · For hardware makers

Your hardware. Every tariff.

Simple Solar runs smart tariff automation on real UK inverters, every day — cheap-rate charging, agile import and export, peak avoidance. The automation layer is manufacturer-agnostic by design. Write one adapter, and your hardware inherits all of it.

What your hardware inherits.

Every automation below already runs in production against live tariff APIs. None of it is written per-manufacturer — it's the same engine, whatever the inverter underneath.

Smart EV tariffs

Octopus Intelligent Go, E.ON Next Drive, EDF GoElectric Smart Charge and others. We follow the supplier's API for the slots it hands out, and fill the battery while they're open.

Real-time pricing

Half-hourly rates that move all day — Octopus Agile, EDF FreePhase and the rest. A day-ahead plan buys the cheapest slots, the negative ones included.

Multi-window tariffs

Several cheap windows a day, each with its own intent: Octopus Cosy and Flux, E.ON Next Smart Saver, British Gas EV PeakSave, and more.

Paid export

Smart discharge, with the battery emptied before the cheap window opens and Night Trader working the overnight spread — all held above the floor its owner set.

Off-peak tariffs

Octopus Go, Economy 7 and the rest — a plain overnight window with no supplier API in the loop, or one the owner simply types in. Midnight-spanning included.

Custom schedules

User-defined slots and battery modes, for the owners who'd rather drive it themselves.

Sell it back. Properly.

Export isn't one behaviour. Four modes cover four different kinds of tariff, and the owner picks whichever fits theirs.

This is the part owners can't do by hand — and the part that turns a battery from a way to spend less into a way to earn.

01

Excess Export

Whatever is still in the battery goes out to the grid before the cheap window opens — so the night's cheap import isn't topping up a battery that was already full. Works on a flat export rate, SEG included.

02

Agile Export

Where the export price moves through the day, a plan built ahead of time picks the windows worth selling into — and sits out the ones that aren't.

03

Night Trader

Cycles between buying at the cheap overnight rate and selling straight back out at the export rate, earning through the small hours while the house sleeps.

04

Full Agile

Both sides of the meter at once — buying in the cheapest half hours and selling in the dearest, with the household's own load in the maths so it never sells power the house is about to need.

One adapter. That's the integration.

Your side never has to know what a tariff is. Our engine works out what should happen and when; your adapter carries it out and reports back.

The interface is small and deliberately dumb. It reads the settings it's about to touch, applies an intent, and puts everything back exactly as it found it — the planning, the pricing and the timing all stay on our side.

How it goes
01
A conversation
You tell us how your hardware is controlled. We tell you what the integration actually involves — honestly, including if the answer is that it's hard.
02
The adapter
A thin layer that teaches the engine to speak to your inverter. Scoped and built with you, once.
03
Live
Your owners get every tariff on the list — and every one we add afterwards, without you lifting a finger.

Three ways to ship it.

The intelligence is the same in all three. What changes is how much you build yourself.

Option one

Keep your app.

Your app, your brand, your customer relationship. Simple Solar sits underneath as the intelligence layer and your owners never see us — they just notice the battery filling up when power is cheap.

  • Nothing about your existing app has to change
  • You keep the customer and the data relationship
  • Surface, keys and tenancy scoped with you, per partner
Option two

Ship ours as yours.

The whole Simple Solar app, rebranded. Every screen, every automation, your name on the store listing — the short road from "our inverter has an app" to "our inverter is smart".

  • iOS, Android and web, built and maintained by us
  • Your identity throughout — name, colours, icon, copy
  • New tariffs land for your owners as they land for ours
Option three

Take the whole stack.

The Simple Solar Hub wired in alongside your inverter, our app in your customer's hand, and the automation running between the two. Nothing to build on your side — you make the hardware, we handle the rest of the ecosystem.

  • Control at the inverter — no cloud API for you to build
  • Hardware, app and intelligence from a single supplier
  • Your branding on the Hub and on the app alike

Let's talk.

Tell us what you make and how it's controlled — a cloud API, local Modbus, or something of your own. We'll tell you honestly how big the job is.
